The Berry Center presents the 3rd Annual Wendell Berry Lecture delivered by Dr. Ellen F. Davis

September 10 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The Berry Center welcomes Dr. Ellen Davis, Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology at Duke Divinity School, who will deliver the 3rd annual Wendell Berry Lecture. Named in honor of Wendell Berry whose book, The Unsettling of America: Culture and Agriculture* gave life to a previously low-profile environmental movement in 1977; it galvanized the movement across the country. It is a book which has been in print since then and which 50th anniversary of publication we will be celebrating in 2027.

Professor Davis is a theologian and author of 15 books. Her 2009 publication, Scripture, Culture, and Agriculture: An Agrarian Reading of the Bible (Cambridge University Press, 2009) examines the ethics of land use and common practices of modern industrialized agriculture and compares them with ancient times. She will answer questions and sign books after her address. The Bookstore will sell Dr. Davis’s books as well as other relevant titles.”
