SUMMARY:Write Your Rural Story: A Memoir Workshop with Georgia Green Stamper
DESCRIPTION:This 2-day workshop is designed for those who are beginning to collect and write their personal stories of family and rural places. Georgia Green Stamper will lead these sessions at The Berry Center’s Agrarian Culture Center. Participants will have the option to submit their final pieces for inclusion in The Berry Center Archive and for possible publication in our newsletters. The registration fee includes instructional costs\, a copy of Stamper’s memoir Small Acreages: New and Collected Essays\, and light refreshments. *This workshop is in-person only; no virtual option. \n2-Day Workshop hosted over two consecutive Saturdays:\n\nSaturday\, March 8 (10a – 3p)\nSaturday\, March 15 (10a – 3p)\n\nCost: $75\nREGISTER HERE\n\nAbout our Host:\nGeorgia Green Stamper is a seventh-generation Kentuckian who grew up on a tobacco farm in Owen County\, a property that has been in her family for nearly two centuries. Her upbringing in this rural setting deeply influences her writing\, which often reflects on themes of family\, community\, and the human experience. \nStamper is the author of three collections of creative nonfiction essays: \nYou Can Go Anywhere \nButter in the Morning \nSmall Acreages: New and Collected Essays \nIn addition to her books\, Stamper’s essays have been featured in various anthologies\, magazines\, and newspapers. She regularly contributes to Kentucky Humanities and other periodicals\, sharing her unique perspective on Kentucky life and beyond. \n  \n
